Cat. #00586112: HARRY WILSON

Extraordinarily rare vintage fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch tan card, acquired in-person by an inveterate collector in the late 1950s.  In good condition and ideal for matting.  Note that the image of the star shown alongside the scan of the autograph here is not actually included with the signed piece.  Much like Rondo Hatton, prolific character actor Harry Wilson capitalized on the facial deformities and gigantic build associated with acromegaly to play goons, thugs and henchmen in hundreds of films and television programs across four decades. His long list of credits includes Sidewalks of New York (1931), The Mad Genius (1931), The Beast of the City (1932), Grand Hotel (1932), 20,000 Years in Sing Sing (1932), The Cat's-Paw (1934), The Affairs of Cellini (1934), Les Miserables (1935), Dante's Inferno (1935), A Tale of Two Cities (1935), Anything Goes (1936), Modern Times (1936), Flash Gordon (1936), A Day at the Races (1937), Topper (1937), The Gracie Allen Murder Case (1939), The Wizard of Oz (1939), The Phantom Creeps (1939), One Million B.C. (1940), The Great Dictator (1940), Hold That Ghost (1941), Shadow of the Thin Man (1941), Tarzan's New York Adventure (1942), Pardon My Sarong (1942), Hangmen Also Die! (1943), Batman (1943), The Cross of Lorraine (1943), The Hairy Ape (1944), The Lost Weekend (1945), The Strange Woman (1946), Of Human Bondage (1946), Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion (1950), Scandal Sheet (1952), The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T (1953), Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1953), Calamity Jane (1953), Killer Ape (1953), Them! (1954), The Human Jungle (1954), Guys and Dolls (1955), Man of a Thousand Faces (1957), Frankenstein's Daughter (1958), Some Like It Hot (1959), Bloodlust! (1961), Pocketful of Miracles (1961), and The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965).
