Cat. #0008433: JACK CARSON

Uncommon vintage signature in thick pencil on a 2x4-inch tan card, acquired in-person by a busy New York City-based autograph hound in the late 1940s or early 1950s. In good condition and suitable for matting with a favorite photograph. Burly, affable Jack Carson played comedic second bananas in numerous screen comedies of the 1940s and 1950s, most notably The Strawberry Blonde (1941), Gentleman Jim (1942) and Arsenic and Old Lace (1944). His occasional forays into dramatic roles included Mildred Pierce (1945), Roughly Speaking (1945) and A Star is Born (1954). He died of liver cancer at the age of 52.
